Legislative Update
The 2011 legislative year is now underway, and the majority of states are now in session. There are currently more than 160 introductions of uniform and model acts and two enactments. To date, New Mexico has introduced 14 acts, Massachusetts and Mississippi have each introduced 11 acts, the District of Columbia has introduced nine acts, and Nevada has introduced eight acts. The Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act has been introduced in 13 states, and the 2010 Amendments to UCC9 have been introduced in 10 states to date.

New Members
There are two new commissioners in Colorado to report. Frank McNulty is a state representative from Highlands Ranch, and replaces Morgan Carroll as commissioner. Rep. McNulty is Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives. Bob Gardner is a state representative from Colorado Springs, and replaces Anne McGihon. Rep. Gardner is Chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
In Alaska, Douglas D. Gardner is our newest commissioner. Mr. Gardner is Director of the Alaska Legislative Affairs Agency in Juneau, and replaces Tamara Cook, who retired.
There are two new commissioners in Nevada. Michael Roberson is a state senator from Las Vegas, and James Ohrenschall is a state representative from Las Vegas.
There are two new commissioners in Michigan. Ellen Cogen Lipton is a state representative from Huntington Woods, and replaces Andrew Kandrevas as commissioner. Kevin M. Cotter is a state representative from Mount Pleasant, and replaces Justin Amash.

News from the ABA
At its recent Midyear Meeting in Atlanta, the ABA House of Delegates approved five uniform acts: the Uniform Military and Overseas Voters Act; the Uniform Electronic Recordation of Custodial Interrogations Act; the Uniform Partition of Heirs Property Act; the Uniform Faithful Presidential Electors Act; and the 2010 Amendments to UCC Article 9.
